The Department of Mechanical Engineering at GITAM, Bhubaneswar, successfully organized a three-day Faculty Development Program (FDP) on “Recent Advances in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)” from the 21st to the 25th of May, 2024. The FDP aimed to update faculty members on the latest developments in CFD, providing them with the necessary knowledge and skills to enhance their teaching and research capabilities in this critical area of mechanical engineering.Prof. (Dr.) M.K. Moharana – Professor, NIT Rourkela & Prof. (Dr.) K.B. Sahu – Professor, KIIT University, Bhubaneswar. were the resource person for this FDP. Dr.Moharana provided a comprehensive overview of the fundamental principles of CFD, including the mathematical foundations, numerical methods, and simulation techniques. He also discussed the importance of CFD in various engineering applications and the benefits of integrating CFD tools in research and teaching. Dr. Sahu focused on advanced meshing techniques, emphasizing their significance in ensuring accurate CFD simulations. He covered topics such as structured and unstructured meshing, grid generation, and best practices for mesh optimization.
