Kargil Vijay Diwas celebrated at GITAM

On 26th July 2023, GITAM College proudly observed Kargil Vijay Diwas, a momentous day dedicated to honouring the valour and sacrifices of the Indian Armed Forces during the Kargil War. The college organized a solemn and patriotic event to pay tribute to the brave soldiers and to instil a sense of national pride and gratitude among its students and faculty. The occasion was graced by two esteemed guests, whose presence added immense significance to the celebration. The first guest, Subedar Major (Honorary Captain) Bhagirathi Nayak, was a retired veteran who had dedicated an impressive 34 years of his life in service to the nation. From 26th June 1984 to 30th June 2018, Subedar Major Nayak had exemplified unwavering dedication and selflessness in his commitment to the Indian Army. The second guest, Harihara Sahoo, aged 82, was an individual of great respect and admiration within the local community. Although not a military veteran, Mr. Sahoo had contributed significantly to society through his tireless efforts in various social causes, and his presence at the event symbolized the spirit of unity and collective appreciation for the nation's heroes.

National Intellectual Property Festival

On July 22nd, 2023, a groundbreaking event on innovation and Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) was organized by GITAM College in collaboration with AKAM-RBSM/NIPF, an initiative supported by the Government of India. The event aimed to foster a culture of innovation, create awareness about IPRs, and encourage collaboration between academia, industry, and the government to drive technological advancements in the country. The event was graced by two distinguished and esteemed personalities as chief guests: Dr. T. Pavan Kumar and Dr. D. S. Rao. Both are renowned figures in the fields of technology and intellectual property and have made significant contributions to India's innovation ecosystem. Dr. T. Pavan Kumar, with his expertise in technology and innovation, has been a driving force behind various entrepreneurial ventures and has served as a mentor to countless startups. Dr. D. S. Rao, on the other hand, is a stalwart in the domain of intellectual property rights. He has played a pivotal role in shaping policies and frameworks that safeguard intellectual property, encouraging inventors and creators to protect their work and ideas. His guidance at the event shed light on the significance of IPRs in promoting innovation and the need for effective collaboration between stakeholders.

Van Mahotsav, also known as the Forest Festival, is a significant environmental festival celebrated across India. It was initiated in the early 1950s by Dr. K. M. Munshi, the renowned freedom fighter and environmental enthusiast. WORLD DAY AGAINST CHILD LABOUR

On this day, people from all walks of life come together to advocate for the rights of children and to promote efforts to eliminate child labour. In this context, it is inspiring to hear about the initiative taken by the students of GITAM College near Crown Hotel in Nayapalli to commemorate this significant day.The students of GITAM College, known for their social responsibility and dedication to making a positive impact, organized a special event near Crown Hotel to mark the World Day against Child Labour. The event served as a platform for raising awareness and engaging the local community in discussions about the issue. ROAD SAFETY AWARENESS

On the 30th of May 2023, the streets of Gangapada Chowk came alive with a powerful message of road safety awareness, led by the proactive students of GITAM. With a deep concern for the well-being of their community, these young champions took it upon themselves to educate, engage, and inspire others to prioritize road safety. At the heart of the event was the understanding that road accidents are preventable, and by fostering awareness and responsible behaviour, lives can be saved. Armed with informative pamphlets, posters, and passionate voices, the GITAM students set out to make a difference. Moreover, the students highlighted the importance of pedestrian safety, urging individuals to use designated crosswalks, be alert while crossing the road, and advocate for pedestrian-friendly infrastructure. They stressed that road safety is a shared responsibility, reminding everyone that each person has a role to play in creating safer streets.

TREE PLANTATION PROGRAM

On the 5th of June 2023, the Community Health Centre in Mendhasal came alive with vibrant energy as GITAM students gathered to celebrate World Environment Day. WORLD ATHLETICS DAY CELEBRATION

On 7th May, GITAM College located at Gangapada Square celebrated World Athletics Day with great enthusiasm and energy. The event was organized with the aim of promoting fitness and sportsmanship among the students. The day kicked off with a march past by the students, followed by various sports events such as relay races, high jump, long jump, and shot put. The atmosphere was filled with excitement and fervour as students participated in different competitions with great zeal. The winners were awarded with medals and certificates. The event was a huge success and received a great response from the students. Overall, the celebration of World Athletics Day by GITAM College was a great initiative to promote sports and fitness among the youth.

WORKSHOP ON RESEARCH

On the 2nd of May 2023, a workshop on Research was conducted at GITAM College by Dr. B B Kar, a renowned expert in the field from KIIT University. The workshop was attended by a diverse group of participants, including students, researchers, and faculty members. Dr. Kar shared valuable insights on various aspects of research, including problem identification, literature review, research design, data collection, analysis, and interpretation. He emphasized the importance of conducting ethical research and adhering to established norms and guidelines. The workshop provided a platform for participants to learn from Dr. Kar's vast experience and interact with him to clarify their doubts and queries. Overall, the workshop was a great learning experience for all the participants, and it is expected to contribute significantly to the development of research culture at GITAM College.

WORLD TB DAY CELEBRATION

World TB Day is a globally recognized event that takes place every year on the 24th of March. The day is dedicated to raising awareness about tuberculosis, a deadly disease caused by a bacterium called Mycobacterium tuberculosis. GITAM College at Gangapada Village is one of many institutions that actively participate in this event, organizing various activities to promote awareness about TB. The college encourages its students and staff to take part in educational seminars, rallies, and workshops aimed at spreading awareness about TB prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. Through these efforts, the college hopes to contribute to the global effort to eliminate TB by 2035, as outlined in the Sustainable Development Goals. By celebrating World TB Day, institutions like GITAM College at Gangapada Village play an essential role in improving public health and reducing the impact of this deadly disease on communities around the world.

BLOOD DONATION CAMP

On 22nd March, a blood donation camp was organized at GITAM College, and it turned out to be a great success as the organizers were able to collect 102 units of blood from the donors. The camp was set up to encourage people to donate blood voluntarily, and it received a good response from students, faculty members, and local residents. The event was organized in collaboration with a local blood bank, which provided the necessary infrastructure and medical staff for the camp. The donors were thoroughly screened to ensure that they were fit to donate blood, and the entire process was conducted in a hygienic and safe manner. The organizers of the camp expressed their gratitude to all the donors and volunteers who contributed to making the event a success. The collected blood would be utilized to help people in need and save lives. Overall, it was a commendable effort by everyone involved in organizing the blood donation camp.

HOLI DAY CELEBRATION

Holi, the festival of colours, is one of the most vibrant and joyous festivals celebrated in India. At GITAM College, the Holi Day celebration is an exciting and much-awaited event that brings together students, faculty, and staff to immerse themselves in the colors of joy and happiness. The day begins with a prayer session followed by a cultural program that includes dance, music, and skits related to the festival. Students are seen dressed in white clothes, which they later drench with colors, making the campus a sight to behold. Delicious food and sweets are also an integral part of the celebration. The atmosphere is filled with laughter, excitement, and a sense of unity as everyone celebrates this festival of love and harmony. Placement campus drive has been held in our College by EPIC RESEARCH LTD, INDORE on 29/July/2023. EPIC Research is for all department students. Mrs. Mukta Shakya HR of EPIC Research Ltd provided the appointment letter to the students who selected for a job. Most of the students are placed in the campus drive.
